When my kids were younger, their Monday school assignment was to write about their weekend. That writing showcased their perceptions and thoughts about their activities, outings with family/friends, etc. I LOVED reading about their viewpoint and seeing their drawings! The best way to capture this greatness, more often than just one day a week at school, is by getting them a Kid’s Writing Journal with Picture Space!
Three Simple and Unique ways to use a Kid’s Writing Journal
A Story Journal– Draw a picture about the story and then write the story.
Practice Handwriting– Use a page per letter; drawing things that start with the letter they are practicing.
Practice Vocabulary and Spelling– Use the top line for the word they are learning, picture space to draw images of the word or to help explain the meaning of the word, and use other lines to write out definition of the word and use the word in a sentence.

This style of Kid’s Writing Journal can also be used for…
Prompted Creative Writing
This style journal would work wonderfully for creative writing! The top line can be used to write the topic of the creative writing subject; then draw a picture of the main idea about the idea and then start writing! (Prompts are to be added by parent or child)
Paragraph Practice Writing
Kids can draw a picture about the paragraph idea, and then write a paragraph. (A Paragraph consists of about 4-5 sentences, having 1st sentence being the introduction of paragraph topic, 2-4 sentences of supporting details about the topic, and last sentence will be a ‘closing’ sentence summarizing the paragraph.)
Specific Topic Learning
There are MANY articles about how kids can retain information better with drawing- BUT they also need to learn to write as well. This Kid’s Writing Journal with Picture Space IS the perfect tool for writing and drawing while making learning fun!
